Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on the N&K Webdesign website, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners. Cookies can be "session cookies" (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent cookies" (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
In addition to traditional cookies, we also use localStorage — a browser storage mechanism that works similarly to persistent cookies but is stored locally on your device and not sent to servers with each request. We use localStorage to store your cookie consent preferences and language preference.
2. Cookies and Local Storage We Use
2.1 Essential / Functional
These are required for the website to function correctly. They cannot be disabled.
| Name | Owner | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
nk-cookie-consent |
N&K Webdesign | Stores your cookie consent choices (essential, analytics, marketing flags + timestamp) so the banner is not shown on every page visit. | Until cleared by user | localStorage |
nk-lang |
N&K Webdesign | Stores your language preference (English or German) so your choice persists across page loads. | Until cleared by user | localStorage |
2.2 Analytics Cookies (only with consent)
These cookies are only set after you explicitly accept analytics cookies via our consent banner. They help us understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it.
| Name | Owner | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google LLC | Distinguishes unique users. Used to calculate visitor, session, and campaign data in Google Analytics 4 reports. | 2 years | Cookie |
_ga_XXXXXXXXXX |
Google LLC | Used by Google Analytics 4 to persist session state. The XXXXXXXXXX suffix corresponds to your GA4 Measurement ID. | 2 years | Cookie |
_gid |
Google LLC | Distinguishes users for Google Analytics 4. Stores and updates a unique value for each page visited. | 24 hours | Cookie |
We have configured Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled. This means your IP address is truncated before it is stored or transmitted outside the EU. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and Safeguarding your data page.
2.3 Marketing Cookies
We currently do not use any marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before any such cookies are set.
